What.....are you sure?

As many of you have already heard, the Baker family had a little surprise on Friday. I am going to do my best to recount the experience as I remember it.

We went in for our 20 week ultrasound in what had previously been a very difficult week. Having been through this process already we were pretty laid-back and just viewed this as a formality. Eventually we got called back and made our way into the room. The ultrasound nurse went through the introductions and explained what was going to happen, then we got started.

Before I go any further I just need to explain that all of those ultrasound images don't mean a darn thing to me - for all I know they could be showing me an alien autopsy. That being said I could tell right away that there was one baby. So here is how it went down.

Me: Well it looks like there is only one

Nurse: Actually

Me: Actually what?

Nurse: There are actually 2 in there.

Me: Shut up, you had better not being kidding me.

Nurse: Oh, you didn't know........this is so exciting, I never get to tell people they are having twins

Me: Are you shitting me, I don't believe it

Sarah: are you sure?

Nurse: Look 2 heartbeats......this is so great

Me: Are you sure? I know there are two heartbeats...but is it possible those 2 hearts are actually in one baby.

Sarah: (now in a bit of a daze) - twins........twins

Needless to say we have kicked it into high gear on the baby preparation. We still don't know the sexes and we don't even know if the twins are identical or fraternal. We do know this now means that my parents are going to be grandparents to 6 kids under the age of 3 or in the future, 6 grandkids all in high school at the same time.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Congratulations again! This really is a great story. :) I am impressed by your self-discipline to not find out the genders or type of twins you are carrying! Amazing.
